This one's a gem

I had some extra speakers I wanted to drive with something hooked up to my computer and/or DVD player. I'd been using old stereo component amps but tired of how big they are and wanted to find something a little more streamlined. Well, this unit is exactly what I was looking for-- clean, sturdily constructed, low noise, small size, and exactly the options I would want and nothing more.

Back panel has voltage switch 110/230, fuse access, line out, microphone in, and three sets of inputs. I hooked it up to my 4-ohm speakers, and it kicks up a pretty decent output. Exceeded my expectations.

Bought mine from All Audio Expo via Amazon, and it appears to be brand new in box as originally sealed by the mfg. UPS sure trashed the heck out of the outer box though, but All Audio did an expert job of double-boxing with peanuts so the inner box was fine and the unit is completely undamaged and works perfect.
Impressive

My situation was that I had a pair of weighty JBL L100 speakers leftover from the mid-70's. The receiver died a long time ago, but I really just wanted to crank up those old speakers to see if they still delivered. Since my tunes are all on the IPod, I didn't see the need to invest in a receiver all over again. I decided to give the Pyle a try. You'll need to get a mini (3.5mm) to RCA plug adapter for IPod usage, but after that you're good to go.

This is an impressive unit. Small footprint, volume control, bass/treble controls, multiple inputs are the features I liked. It supplies plenty of power for those old JBLs, which still sound great after all of these years.

For the price, highly recommended.

The perfect garage amplifier

I purchased this unit so I could listen to a cd player while working in my garage. I already had an older component cd player, tuner, speakers etc just lying around unused, so all I needed was a small amp at a low price to have my tunes. While it is primarily geared for DJ and PA use (it has mic input and mixing/paging controls), this is a perfect choice if you already have extra component equipment and just need some watts. Well constructed, cool running, and nice looking also. An excellent value IMHO.
Great little amplifier.

I say little, but actually this thing produces a huge gain, is rather robust and a lot heavier than it looks. (Keeping in mind that all of those things are good) If you are looking to just drive speakers, like I was, this thing actually might be overkill. 40W is a LOT of power and much more than you would need when feeding from an iPod or computer. I had to take a long look at the Pyle Pro PCA1 Mini 2x15W Stereo Power Amplifier before making a decision. However, having the option of multiple inputs make the extra $20 worth it for me.
a mighty nice little amp

I had a television, DVD recorder, DVD player and VCR in my bedroom where all the audio was set to the television's speakers. Although not terrible, the sound was a bit weak/tinny. After a few months of deliberation I purchased a pair of bookshelf speaks and the Pyle PTA2 mini amplifier. I went with the Pyle instead of a audio receiver because I didn't have the need for an AM/FM radio, advanced connectivity, or any sort of fancy surround sound capabilities. All I wanted was to drive audio from my television out to a pair of speakers. The Pyle does this perfectly. In addition:

- for $50+, including shipping, the Pyle PTA2 is a great deal.
- the device is very small, requires little electricity, and doesn't generate much heat. It can be tucked away very nicely.
- there is nothing minimal about its capabilities. Coupled with a nice pair of speakers it should be able to produce fine audio in a very large room.

Bottom line: a smart choice for cheap audio.
Solid, versatile audio amplifier

I bought this amplifier to use in conjunction with an Apple Airport Express and an extra pair of speakers to listen to my iTunes library. The amp has 3 inputs - 2 Aux and 1 CD (each are std. RCA red/white jacks). Just connect the audio output from the Air Express to an Aux input, tie in a pair of speakers, select the Air Express from within iTunes, and you can have remote music anywhere in range.

The amp also has a Record output (RCA jacks) and a microphone input (std. ¼" jack). There are two mic modes - paging (the music is muted when you talk into the mic), or mixing (the music is lowered when talking, but still audible). I don't use this, but it's a neat feature if you need it. The speaker connections are push type jacks - somewhat out of date, but not a serious drawback if you are reasonably adept with soldering or wire strippers.

The amp is a nice compact size, light weight, doesn't generate a lot of heat, and the sound quality is fine unless you are a true audiophile. There is solid bass output, separate concentric bass and treble controls, and plenty of power to fill a room or two. I'm considering a second one for upstairs. Very good bang for the buck.
Better Than Expected

I bought this amp to replace an old Kenwood receiver that powered a pair of midlevel Bose bookshelf speakers on stands - and, I was amazed at the increased clarity, tone, and channel separation. Great sound, exceptional value!
Great product

I was looking for a small amplifier in which to plug my HD tuner, my TV, and my CD/DVD player. When I saw this unit it appeared as if it had been custom designed for my needs. So many components look like they were pulled from the instrument panel of the space shuttle and have two dozen knobs and switches a person would never touch in a lifetime of use. I have been using mine for a month now and am 100% satisfied with it. Given the reasonable price I was a bit aprehensive about the quality
but it is very well built. Anyone who needs more than 40 watts per channel is probably working with a very large area. My setup is in an average sized room and turning the volume up more than a quarter of the way blasts me out. Very highly recommended.
Outside speaker amplifier

Reviewer: R. M. Merrell,
I bought this amplifier to hook up my speakers that are outdoors, on our patio. Favorite attribute is the three different inputs. I set up the amp's (AUX1) input to my DVR on my DIRECTV system. The music stations sound well for being a two small outdoor speakers setup. The second input (Aux 2). I have a cable that I can hook up a iPod/mp3 player, this works well too as friends come over with their mp3 players and can hook right up. The third input (CD) is for the CD player, but I haven't hook that up yet. The balance feature seems redundant, I suppose you could hook up more than two speakers (as shown in the Owner's Manual). Adding this amp freed up my Audio Receiver's "b" channel and I like the fact the outdoor speakers are now isolated from my main audio system.
I cannot fault this amplifier

I was going to buy a used amp in a second hand shop and then I searched the internet and found this amazing little amp. Unlike another review I have read here on Amazon, this amp does not distort... It really kicks ass. It is small and yet has a significant weight, which shows that it is not just an empty box with not much in it. It is ruggedly built and drives a pair of JBLs beautifully.
So good in fact that I have mixed and mastered an album using this amp ([...] - A Series of Events by Buried Head).
I am a professional musician and know about sound quality. For the money, this amp rocks! It brings a smile to my face every time I switch it on.
A tight little beast of an amplifier

There isn't much more to say about this unit except that it's brilliant, especially for the price. Since this is a review though here's a list of pros and cons:

pros:

The price is fantastic for such a featured unit
The build and form factor reflect the clever engineering of the internals
The sound as rich and accurate as units twice or thrice the price
My headphones even sound better (be aware that a standard 3.5mm headphone plug is too small, you'll need an adapter)

cons:

I didn't get it sooner

I bought some Sony SS-B3000 bookshelf speakers to go with this unit along with some 16 gauge cable to connect to my desktop, and everybody around me noticed just how well they all work together. I'd surmise that the Pta2 is the main reason for that (though Sony deserves props for the quality of those pretty cheap speakers). I highly recommend this for those just getting started fiddling in the realm of audiophilia.
Nice little amp.

While the amp is inexpensive, the sound is very good. I'm driving an older set of 45W Akai speakers through a Radio Shack equalizer and a PTA2. In my livingroom, this is more than enough sound, and works great for watching DVDs and football games.

If your ears can't distinguish the difference between 89db and 91db sound quality, and they can't, this amp is good enough for any small set of speakers you own.

This little amp does all it says it will. I've been to many stores trying to find an amp that would connect to my ceiling speakers from the out plugs of a TV. All the stores wanted to sell me amp/tuners that cost many hundreds more. I'm going to get 3 more for the other rooms.
Great

Fantastic output to Bose speakers. Great for ipods, iphones. Incredible sound from such a small, inexpensive, unit. I love it.
Great little amp for a great little price

I had some old but great sounding bookshelf speakers I wanted to use for my new Internet radio.

The radio was on sale at 50% off - $90. Since the speakers were old and not very expensive ($150), I didn't want to spend a lot of money for an amplifier.

Saw this Pyle unit on Amazon for 2/3 the price of what others were charging and thought I would give it a try.

If anything, it is too much bang for the buck!

Three inputs plus a headphone jack.

Sounds great! I haven't really maxed out the power yet but I don't hear any distortion.

Definitely exceeded my expectations.

Now my wife wantes a microphone to use this in Karaoke mode.
